About The Pop Collective:
Brian Wilson had his piano in a sandbox. Yes, and we have our little record label, friends. As Hunter S. Thompson once said, "The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
Well Hunter, we'd like to beat the odds!
As the name suggests, The Pop Collective is a record label dedicated to a collaborative effort between artist and label. We seek to support music broadly categorized as power-pop - full of great guitar hooks, upbeat melodies, and transcendent harmonies. We do this by a partnership with artists we believe in, helping them in marketing and distributing their music and finding supportive fans. Indeed, it is a collective effort by artist, label, and fans to support an infectious and worthy music and, at the same time, not lose our shirts doing it.
Our principals in this effort are Steve West, Dave Danglis, and Tony Shore. Tony has a long career in the music business trenches, both in radio and with various labels, including Essential Records and, most recently, Silent Planet Records. Dave is our creative designer, having done graphic design for numerous artists and labels for the last several years. Steve is a practicing lawyer, former Founder and President of Silent Planet Records, and current President of Maze Bright Artist Management. They are all deeply, deeply disturbed.
